Journal Update |
Mar 9, 2007 |
Hello Readers,
Well, it's almost here, time to get the hair dye out. We're all
rehearsed and ready to go. Canada, and eventually the world,
here we come! As you may have heard, the band is called "Heaven
and Hell". We'll be playing a selection of songs from all 3 Dio-
era albums (of Sabbath), and 3 new songs.
My GZR band is on hold for now, but songs will be written along
the way, hopefully culminating as an album sometime in 2010, the
Lord or Darwin or Richard Dawkins permitting.
I will endeavor to keep all informed along the rocky road, both
highlights and lowlights, and my thoughts thereupon.
Soon, you all must rush out and buy [or stay in and download]
Black Sabbath "The Dio Years" album, as offered by our gracious
hosts Rhino Records.
So hope to see you all soon, and enjoy the show!
Peace, Geezer.

Journal Update |
Sep 1, 2006 |
Hello Readers,
its been a year since i updated my "journal"; maybe I should
call it an annual. Well the greatest tournament on Earth has
finished, and I can now get back to normal life. i watched every
match of the World Cup, and now I don't know what to do with
myself. My congratulations to Italy, the world champs, and to
Germany for organizing such an amazing event, and indeed to all
the teams, for making life worth living. Football is the one
true religion, hallelujah.
Well, since I last did my journal, so much has changed, and so
much has stayed the same. The Ozzfest 2005 was enjoyable; it was
great meeting everyone at the GZR signings- such marvelous
people, so many budding bass players, and truly kind souls. Then
just when I thought it was safe to go in the water, Sabbath were
inducted into the British Music hall of Fame, and then the Rock
n Roll Hall of Fame, so it was a weird semi-busy 12 months. I
thought Metallica did a great job , inducting us into the Hall
and playing the Sabb songs, as did Brian May at the British HOF.
So far this year I have written about 50 ideas for the next GZR
album, which is now in progress: I have criss crossed the USA in
search of inspiration for my book, which keeps changing with
every rewrite: and I have photographed a couple of ghosts, as
well as some very interesting places. Photography (very amateur)
has become my 3rd favourite hobby, and I hope to post some
photos [yawn] on this site, starting with some of my bass/guitar
collection [excuse the quality].
I have also visited some excellent vegan eating establishments,
and enjoyed some excellent vegan wines and beers, but I am not
sure if it's appropriate to mention them [alcohol concerns,
blatant advertising], but if anyone needs to know, write in.
Good news! Since I started this update, the English football
season has started and Aston Villa have acquired the greatest
manager on the planet and so far have not lost a match!

Journal Update - On Tour with Sabbath and more! |
July 5, 2005 |
Stockholm, Sweden
Well the Sabbath European Tour is well underway- thanks to
everyone who came to see us in the U.K., Germany, Austria,
Greece, Czech Republic, Holland, Bulgaria; it has truly been a
privilege to play our music for you. What a great bunch of
people! Looking forward to Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway.
Rehearsals went extremely well down in Monmouth,Wales. i had a
chance to visit a few castles and old churches while I was there.
I'll include a few pictures i took while i was there.
Ohmwork is selling slowly but steadily- thanks from all in GZR to
everyone who bought it. I'll be putting up a few songs from the
first Geezer Butler Band album that was never officially released
for anyone who wants to download them- apparently, two of the
tracks have found their way onto a Japanese bootleg album, but
are very poor quality, as they have been copied from cassette
tapes. Also, people have been asking where they can buy the GZR
wristbands I wear on stage, so we'll be selling them through this
website, and any money from sales will be passed on to help
homeless animals. Details will follow.
That's all for now. I'll be updating this journal more when I'm
back in the USA, and I hope to have more time to spend doing it,
especially on those long bus journeys!
Until then, take care everyone. Peace,
Geezer. |

Journal Update - Various Topics |
May 11, 2005 |
|
Congratulations are in order this week.
Firstly, I want to congratulate Tony Iommi for the best album
I've heard in years. Sabbath fans, and Iommi fans, are going to
be rejoicing when they hear this album. If you don't know by now,
it's called "Fused." It's brilliant. Buy it!
Secondly, I'd like to congratulate Chelsea
for winning the English Premier League, and Liverpool for
reaching the Champions League final.
My wife, Gloria, and myself have added yet another cat to our
growing zoo. She's a little grey kitten [named Gracie], who had hours to live
before she would have been put down in the Los Angeles Animal
Shelter. I'll post pictures for your perusal.
Meanwhile, on a more serious note,
although I am a pacifist and hate the very idea of killing and
war, I have been thinking of the troops out there in Iraq. I
cannot imagine the situation that they are in. They deserve all
our support, because they would lay down their lives to protect
us no matter what the situation. Some of them have behaved in a
bad way, but when you are caught up in the madness of war, I
think anyone is capable of anything. It's easy to criticize while
sitting at home, with our families, safe and secure. So to all
our troops out in the field, a big thanks from me, and a safe and
swift return for all, please God.
Anyway, onward and upward as they say.
I'm off to England to start rehearsals for our (Sabbath] summer
exploits. I'm particularly looking forward to playing in Greece
and Bulgaria, as the original Sabbath lineup has never played
there. So, I'll be seeing you somewhere in Europe or America.
Peace. Geezer.

Welcome to the site! |

Welcome to the site, its been a long time
coming, but I haven't really had much to say except what's been
on Joe Siegler's excellent Black -Sabbath .com site. it has been
a long time since the last GZR/GEEZER album, and much of the time
since has been taken up with Sabbath matters. In the last year I
have rectified this situation by going into the studio and
recording "Ohmwork" . This album reflects my true feelings of my
life as of October 2004. We are all on this planet together, and
every individual has the God given right to free speech, whether
that God is spiritual or natural. Happy
Listening! -- Geezer |
