Happy New Year!
Jan 15, 2007
Geezer would like to wish everyone a happy, healthy New Year as we roll in 2007.

Looking forward to seeing you all out on the road this year!

Heaven & Hell: Dio, Iommi, Butler, Ward Announcement
Oct 26, 2006
The highly anticipated reunion of Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward appears to be shaping up and taking a new form. After various promoters have approached their respective management; the guys have started taking all of this very seriously, as they have wanted to reunite for some time now. It looks as if the new shape may be that of Heaven and Hell - that's the moniker that the band is likely to use on their new venture.

If all goes well, Heaven and Hell should be hitting the road in early 2007.

Geezer would like it to be known that, although, it is looking likely, the last paragraph is there for a reason. There are still some unresolved issues; which, hopefully, will be sorted imminently.

Geezer in current issue of Bass Player Magazine
Dec 23, 2005
Geezer Butler wants to thank everyone for visiting his site with a special Christmas gift on his website.  The fit is a downloadable mp3 from the Geezer Butler Band back in 1986.  The song is "Computer God", and you can download the file here.  A few background points on the track:
  • The band on the song is Geezer Butler (bass), Pedro Howse (guitar), Carl Sentance (vocals), Jezz Woodroffe (keyboards), & Gary Ferguson (drums).
  • This was part of an unreleased recording session back in 1986 done in at Rockfield Studios, in Momouthshire, Wales.
  • The song shares its title with a song from the Black Sabbath Dehumanizer album.  However, other than the song title, there is no relation between the two tracks.  In Geezer's own words, "I borrowed the title from it for Dehumanizer."

As an added small tidbit about this release, Geezer had this to say about the lyrics... " I wrote the lyrics about God being the ultimate computer, an idea which was carried on in the song "Catatonic Eclipse" on the Plastic Planet album."

Geezer wishes to everyone a very merry, peaceful Christmas and a Happy New Year!

L.A. Heart for the South Fundraiser
Sep 23, 2005
It started as a simple crusade among friends in the music industry who, after seeing and hearing about the disaster, wanted to make a physical contribution to the victims of Katrina. As more stories and personal connections to victims were discovered and shared, this group began to feel helpless. This helplessness easily and effortlessly morphed into a passion to do something. In a matter of hours, they formed the group ECHO (Entertainment Community Helping Others) and began organizing a fundraiser called Los Angeles HEART for the South.

On September 24th, from 9 am to 6 pm concerned citizens of the Los Angeles Area will join together to raise funds for the families and victims affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Hosted by Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath, the event will offer: Live Music, Silent Auction, and Raffle. The event will be hosted at The Roxy on Sunset from 10 am to 6 pm. The event is open to the public with free admission.

The music portion of the event will start at 11am and run until the event closes at 6pm. Headlining the event are FISHBONE and PHANTOM PLANET who will be joined by local bands Killola, The Fade, The Hatch, Holden, Thom Chacon, Damon Aaron, and more. Check the website for updates.

The line-up is:
11:00 - 11:30 - Thom Chacon
11:45 - 12:15 - Damon Aaron
12:30 - 1:00 - Holden
1:15 - 1:45 - The Fade
2:00 - 2:30 - The Hatch
2:45 - 3:15 - Killola
3:45 - 4:45 - Phantom Planet
5:00 - 6:00 - Fishbone

Some of the items available for silent auction are: guitar signed by Oasis and the Black Crowes, video game packages donated by Activision, various restaurant gift certificates, other signed memorabilia and more.

Along with Salvation Army and Red Cross, donated proceeds will be given to Petfinder.com, and Best Friends Animal Society's Hurricane Relief Fund. Discarded cell phones will be accepted as a donation, some may earn as much as $200 per phone toward the fundraising.

About ECHO:

Inspired by the power of networking within the entertainment industries, ECHO is a group of young professionals coming together to help those less fortunate then themselves. ECHO members are the background of the entertainment industry; they are assistants, coordinators, producers, engineers, and managers. But, most of all they are empathetic Americans with a voice, a voice they hope to echo from their neighborhood to the world. Geezer on Hurricane Katrina
Sep 9, 2005
Here's a few words from Geezer about Hurricane Katrina..

You will be hard-pressed to find someone NOT affected by the devastation of the hurricane in the southern states. And, for many of us, the horror is, unfortunately, very close and very real even though we (physically) are not. Being so far away and watching only on television, it's difficult to grasp the severity... but we need to. Please do what you can... donate funds, clothing, blood, toiletries, food, or time.

Here's some other websites you should visit:

I Believe in Dog

You can get more information on the show at it's homepage over at the A&E Website.

Jul 21, 2005

Now that Ozzfest 2005 has gotten underway stateside, we wanted to make sure that all you GZR fans would get a chance to get your copy of "Ohmwork" signed by Geezer.  At every venue at 4:30pm, go to the FYE Tent to get your copy of "Ohmwork" signed and say "hello" to Geezer.  Tony Iommi will also be signing his new album Fused alongside Geezer.

We would like to point out that when you arrive at Ozzfest, you should check with the FYE tent to make sure the signing has not changed times.  They're planned to be 4:30, but you should check on the day to make sure it hasn't been changed for some reason.

Please be aware that Geezer will only be signing copies of Ohmwork that will be purchased on site that day.  No other material will be signed.  Thanks for your cooperation in this matter.  We want Geezer to meet as many fans as possible, and security will be strict with this, so to avoid any unpleasantness, please don't try and "sneak" things by, thinking "just one won't hurt".

Geezer looks forward to meeting you.

Note about Jul 21st gig: Geezer will not be at the FYE signing on July 21 (Darien Center, NY) due to a late arrival to the venue because of interview and press responsibilities. Thank you.

Twenty Questions with Geezer
May 3, 2005
There's a very amusing and extremely entertaining interview with Geezer over at the Metal Sludge website now.  It's quite good and several things will probably make you laugh out loud.  Here's a few samples from the entire interview:

Q: There must be a million Black Sabbath tribute albums out there. Have you ever listened to any of them, and if so, was there any particular band’s cover of one of your songs that stood out and impressed you?

A: Yeah, I listened to quite a few of them, but there’s, like, so many of them now. I get about 10 of them every week in the post. I really like Type O Negative’s version of “Black Sabbath.” And I love The Bad Plus’ version of “Iron Man.”

Q. Of the following, which do you prefer:

A: Poison or Warrant = Uuuuuurrgghhhhhhhhh!!!!! (Note: That’s the sound Geezer actually made when we asked him that question! “Uuuuuurrgghhhhhhhhh!!!!!” There’s no other way to transcribe it.) Uuuuuurrgghhhhhhhhh! Hahahahhaha! Neither of them!

This is a very good interview, if you haven't checked it out already, you should do so straight away.  The full interview is available here.

Ohmwork Giveaway Winners Announced!
May 2, 2005
When this website was launched, a contest was also launched giving away 5 autographed copies of Geezer's new album, "Ohmwork".  We've chosen the winners; here they are:
  • JT Bauer (Morton Grove, IL)
  • Josh Lee (Hauula, HI)
  • Pat McKim (Hanover, PA)
  • Jordan Livesay (Victoria, Australia)
  • Steve Lofkin (Hampshire, England)

Here are the answers to the trivia questions:

  1. What is Geezer's full name? (Terence Michael Joseph Butler)
  2. What band was Geezer in before hooking up with the lads in Black Sabbath? (Rare Breed)
  3. What TV show is the song "Among the Cybermen" from Black Science about? (Doctor Who)
  4. Which movie did Geezer contribute a song to from his first album, Plastic Planet? (Mortal Kombat)
  5. Which Black Sabbath song was the only one that Geezer sang backup vocals on? ("A Hard Road" from Never Say Die!)

A few notes about the answers.  First, "Joseph" wasn't used as an answer, we were just looking for Terence Michael Butler.  The song "A Hard Road" was also the only time Tony Iommi sang backup in a Black Sabbath song, as well!
