"Sadly
Heaven & Hell were unable to perform at The Metalway Festival in Zaragoza on
Sunday due to acute back problems suffered by Tony which left him in
considerable pain and unable to stand. Ronnie, Geezer and Vinny spoke to the
audience to explain the situation. The band is extremely disappointed that the

Heaven & Hell Tour
Dates - North America |
May 4, 2009 |
LOS
ANGELES ‹ Heaven & Hell, the quartet of Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer
Butler, and Vinny Appice, will bring their wicked world tour to North America
for a select number of shows this August. The band will start their summer
headlining music festivals across Europe before bringing their macabre stage
show of metal classics to North America starting on August 7 in Vancouver.
Tickets for most shows go on sale the weekend of May 8. There will also be a
presale for all shows, except Baltimore, beginning May 6 at 10AM local time.
Coheed And Cambria will provide support on all shows except the Seattle date on
August 8, which will feature Neurosis in the supporting slot.
On April 28, Heaven & Hell released their first album in 17 years THE DEVIL YOU
KNOW and the highly anticipated set did not disappoint. Revolver Magazine
declared it "an album of ageless metal anthems" and The Associated Press praised
its "bone-crunching riffs and power chords that can loosen the phlegm in your
chest." The band plans to mix in several tracks from THE DEVIL YOU KNOW into
their set of Dio-era Black Sabbath classics.
Coheed And Cambria bring their unique blend of prog and metal as the supporting
act on the tour. The band just released their Neverender box set. The 4-CD/5-DVD
collection chronicles a series of 2008 shows where the band performed all four
of their albums in the same city on consecutive nights.

HEAVEN & HELL
INTRODUCES THE DEVIL YOU KNOW
Highly Anticipated New Album from Dio, Iommi, Butler, and
Appice,
Their First in 17 Years, Features Epic First Single "Bible Black"
Available
from Rhino April 28
LOS ANGELES -- After finishing several heralded world tours as Heaven & Hell
last summer, Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Vinny Appice were
tighter than ever before, both musically and personally. Agreeing that it would
be a shame to stop making music together at tour's end, the quartet began
writing, first in England at Iommi's home studio and later in Los Angeles at
Dio's studio. "The band had gotten too good to just walk away," Dio says. "We
wanted to show people that we were still capable of giving them new music that
measured up to what we'd done in the past."
With that goal in mind, the band once again converged on Rockfield Studios in
Wales last winter, the same place they used 17 years earlier to record their
last album, Dehumanizer. The result is the long awaited new album THE DEVIL YOU
KNOW, featuring 10 soon-to-be-classic tracks from the Dio-fronted version of
Black Sabbath. The highly anticipated set arrives on April 28 from Rhino for a
suggested list price of $18.98 (physical) and $9.99 (digital).
It took less than three weeks to finish the album, with most of the songs only
needing a couple of takes. "It was good to play them live in the studio. It
keeps you on edge," Iommi says. "I mean, somewhere along the line we were gonna
have to play them live; might as well start in the studio." Butler adds: "We've
learned from the past that you can kill a song doing it over and over. The first
Sabbath albums were done in two or three days. Technically they weren't great,
but vibe-wise they were great. If you capture that feeling, that's all you
need."
"Bible Black," the epic first single, begins with Iommi on acoustic guitar
behind Dio's plaintive wail before the rhythm shifts to a menacing stomp for the
rest of this dark tale about a book of sinister scriptures. One of the first
songs written for the album, Dio says it established a tone for the rest of the
album. "When you start off with a blockbuster like that, it makes the rest of
the album so much easier because it gives you a benchmark to measure the other
songs against."
Iommi proves he hasn't lost the ability to inspire six-string envy, unleashing
riffs like a pack of rabid hellhounds on "Atom And Evil," "Fear," "Neverwhere,"
and "Eating The Cannibals," a tune about doing more than biting the hand that
feeds. Butler and Appice slow the pace while ramping up the intensity on "Follow
The Tears" and "Double The Pain" and "Breaking Into Heaven," the latter
diverging from its glacial procession for Dio's majestic chorus about fallen
angels planning an attack on paradise.

HEAVEN & HELL SET TO
REVEAL THE DEVIL YOU KNOW
Highly Anticipated New Album From Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler
and Vinny Appice To Be Released April 28 From Rhino
LOS
ANGELES —Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice returned
to the stage after 15 years in 2007, launching a triumphant world tour as Heaven
& Hell. Revitalized and inspired by its time on the road, the quartet recently
returned to the studio, recording the band’s first album since 1992’s
Dehumanizer. The highly anticipated album, THE DEVIL YOU KNOW, will be available
from Rhino on April 28.
“Everyone had so much fun playing together that we didn’t want it to end,” says
the group. “We started writing together and the songs started flowing like we
never stopped. We wound up writing and recording an album that stands up to
anything we’ve ever done. We’re really proud of the music and excited for people
to hear it.”
The dark tone heard on THE DEVIL YOU KNOW is clear from several of the album’s
song titles, such as “Bible Black,” “Rock & Roll Angel,” “Breaking Into Heaven,”
“Atom & Evil” and “Eating The Cannibals.”
The seeds of the new album were planted in 2006, when Dio, Iommi, Butler and
Appice returned to the studio to record a trio of new songs for Black Sabbath:
The Dio Years, a recent compilation of essential tracks taken from the quartet’s
four albums together. Soon after, the band launched a run of sold-out shows
around the world, electrifying audiences with its malevolent metal fury.

A note from Heaven & Hell
|
Aug 11, 2008 |
|
The band would like to apologize for not having
played Neon Knights in Jones Beach nor at PNC. Much to their extreme dismay,
they had technical issues both nights that caused them to have to leave the
stage prior to completing their set. They would never intentionally be
discourteous to people that are there to see them and leave the stage without
playing every possible second they could (and of all songs...Neon Knights is one
of their favorites to play).
Again, many apologies for the unfortunate circumstances.

Appice Are Currently Recording Long Awaited New Heaven &
Hell Studio Album, Set To Be Released By Rhino In Early 2009
Heaven & Hell Will Return to the Road This Summer for the
Metal Masters Tour With Judas Priest, Motörhead, and
Testament
LOS ANGELES – Heavy metal
pioneers Black Sabbath were reborn in 1980 when founding
members Tony Iommi and Terry “Geezer” Butler added vocalist
Ronnie James Dio to the lineup. The band’s short but
memorable time together added an unforgettable chapter in
Sabbath’s storied history. Rhino relives the demonic fury
conjured by the Dio era with THE RULES OF HELL, a boxed set
featuring all three of the band’s studio releases (Heaven
And Hell, Mob Rules, Dehumanizer) and their double live
collection (Live Evil) – each recently remastered for the
first time. The set comes packaged in a deluxe slipcase with
extensive liner notes featuring all new interviews with the
band. This five-disc boxed set will be available from Rhino
on July 22 at all physical outlets, as well as www.rhino.com,
for a suggested list price of $54.98. The set will also be
available the same day at all digital outlets for a
suggested list price of $24.99.
Two years ago, Dio, Iommi and Butler and drummer Vinny
Appice reunited to record a trio of new songs for Rhino’s
Black Sabbath: The Dio Years before launching a highly
anticipated and greatly acclaimed world tour under their new
moniker Heaven & Hell. Revitalized by the reunion, the
lineup is back in the studio now recording the first ever
full-length studio album from Heaven & Hell, set to be
released by Rhino in early 2009. To whet the fans’ appetites
for the new album, Heaven & Hell will return to the road for
a short stint on the Metal Masters Tour, a month-long North
American trek with Judas Priest, Motörhead, and Testament.
This blistering metal juggernaut will launch August 6 in
Philadelphia.
The Dio-era’s first effort, HEAVEN AND HELL, hit the racks
on April 25, 1980. Greeted by ecstatic reviews, the album
peaked at #9 in Britain. In the U.S., its Top 30 success
gave the group its first platinum disc in six years. Opening
with the chugging anthem “Neon Knights,” the album also
includes the epic title track, “Wishing Well,” “Die Young”
and “Lonely Is The Word.”
The group’s follow-up, MOB RULES, was the first without
original drummer Bill Ward, who was replaced with Appice.
The album bristles with Iommi’s signature dark riffs,
Butler’s elaborate bass lines, Appice’s hammering behind the
drums and Dio’s inimitable growling. The album includes the
high-octane tracks—“Falling Off The Edge Of The World,”
“Turn Up The Night,” and the title track—plus the mid-tempo
rocker “Voodoo” and the slow-churning epic “The Sign Of The
Southern Cross,” a favorite among band members and fans
alike.
Released in December 1982, LIVE EVIL stands as a modern
metal masterpiece and a testament to the power of the Dio,
Iommi, Butler and Appice lineup. Recorded in Seattle,
Dallas, and San Antonio, the sound is upfront and
aggressive, a virtual front-row seat for epic versions of
their classics including “Neon Knights,” “Children Of The
Sea,” “The Sign Of The Southern Cross” and “Heaven And
Hell.”
DEHUMANIZER (1992) is seen by many metal aficionados as one
of—if not the most—underrated work to ever carry the Sabbath
name. After the lineup fell apart in 1982, the group
reconvened a decade later to release this lost classic. The
album forged something new, pushing its legend to a new
generation of metal heads with incredible tracks like “I,”
“Computer God” and “TV Crimes.”

Metal Masters Tour Announced! |

METAL LEGENDS JUDAS PRIEST, HEAVEN & HELL, MOTORHEAD, AND TESTAMENT UNITE FOR ‘METAL MASTERS TOUR’
WORLD PREMIERE OF JUDAS PRIEST ‘NOSTRADAMUS’ COVER ART AND FREE MP3 DOWNLOAD OF TITLE TRACK AT LIVENATION.COM
After weeks of speculation, Live Nation has put together a killer package that is bound to go down as the heavy metal event of 2008 - Judas Priest, Heaven and Hell, Motorhead, and Testament will be touring together for the first time.
Dubbed ‘The Metal Masters Tour,’ the sixteen date U.S. trek kicks off August 6th at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, New Jersey.
Judas Priest will be supporting their epic concept album, ‘Nostradamus,’ which will arrive on June 17th via Epic Records, and tells the tale of the renowned 16th century prophet. A few tracks from ‘Nostradamus’ will make their in-concert debut on ‘The Metal Masters Tour,’ but the majority of Priest’s set list will include some of metal’s all-time classics, as well as fan favorites that span the quintet’s entire career. Without a doubt, this will be one of Priest’s most powerful sets ever. As a ‘sneak peak treat’ to fans starved for a musical taster, the first cut off the new album will make its world premiere debut as exclusive free MP3 download starting today exclusively at www.livenation.com/judaspriest.
Heaven & Hell will be supporting the release of ‘The Rules Of Hell’ a five-CD boxed set available on July 22nd from Rhino Records which features re-mastered versions of all four Dio-era Black Sabbath albums (‘Heaven and Hell,’ ‘Mob Rules,’ ‘Live Evil,’ and ‘Dehumanizer’) in a deluxe package with new liner notes.
Perennial road rats Motorhead will be touring strictly for the love of it, offering a fan favorites set spanning more than three decades worth of molar-rattling metal. Motorhead’s last album was 2006’s ‘Kiss of Death’ (released via Sanctuary Records), their 19th studio set of their long and highly influential career. A new album is currently in the works as well, which is currently being recorded at their old pal Dave Grohl’s studio with a August release date targeted. Lemmy blairs out, "Here it comes everybody, the test of your Metalness in 2008 and the years to come! Come one come all and be abused!"
Rounding out the line-up will be legendary thrash metal titans Testament, whose new album, ‘The Formation of Damnation,’ (April 29th,) displays Testament as the quintessential modern heavy metal band, whose experience and accumulated skill allows them to attack with reserves of anger, energy and finesse that make them more powerful than ever. Lead singer Chuck Billy says, “Uniting these bands is the heavy metal event of generations. We are so proud to be a part of it.”
Although all four bands may represent different subgenres of heavy metal, all four have one thing in common – they have stuck to their stylistic guns through thick and thin, and have remained true to the metal form.
And soon, band and fan will be united as one on ‘The Metal Masters Tour.’
“As ever, we look forward to screaming out loud with our metal maniac fans when we hit the road,” enthuses Priest singer, Rob Halford. “Thank you once again for your devotion and support. The Priest is back!”
This tour will be limited to fifteen very special engagements, and Citi cardmembers will have pre-sale access to tickets through Citi's Private Pass® Program, available to all Citi cardmembers at www.privatepass.citi.com.
Metal maniacs seeking the ultimate concert experience can access unique VIP ticket and fan experience packages that offer premium seats, meet & greets, pre-concert parties and more brought to you by the band's official websites, www.judaspriest.com and www.heavenandhelllive.com. VIP packages for the first events will be on sale by 10 a.m eastern time on Friday, April 25th. Also, not all VIP packages are the same, so be sure to pick the right one that suits you best.

Geezer Butler Interview |
Apr 5, 2008 |
We just ran across an interview done with Geezer Butler by the "Riverfront Blogs" Website. They entitled it "Geezer Butler Rules". It covers a wide range of topics, and talks about a lot of things personal to Geezer, it's not all music industry stuff. - here are a few samples...
About sixteen years ago, I sold you a bag of popcorn in a strip mall in Chesterfield. What were you doing in Chesterfield?
GB: (Laughs). Yeah, we had a house there, ´cause me wife’s family is all from there. Me kids were born in St. John’s Hospital there. We had a house in England and in St. Louis, so we used to spend a lot of time in both places.
In your section of the album’s liner notes, you say this stuff is pretty challenging to play again after not playing them for years. On this leg of the tour, are you having fun doing these songs again?
GB: Oh, absolutely. Now, you know them backwards, so you start throwing in different things every night, which is another great thing about this band: There’s no two shows the same now. We do quite a lot of jamming in a couple of the songs. Like “Voodoo” and “Heaven and Hell,” they’re different every night.
You'll want to check this out, it's a good interview. Sorry to the RFT folks for not getting this up sooner.

Heaven and Hell Podcast Online |
Sep 21, 2007 |
The MTV show "Headbangers Ball" is running a cool item you will want to check out. It's their exclusive audio podcast interview with Heaven and Hell. Here's a little bit about it from MTV's own description.
During the conversation, the guys joke around about renaming “Heaven and Hell” “Heaven and Sausages,” Dio insists he’s taking on a second career as a boxing promoter and the musicians share their shoe sizes. There’s also a great story about a show-halting fire alarm in New Zealand, some conjecture about when the upcoming Van Halen tour will self-destruct and some revealing information about what Ronnie, Tony, Geezer and Vinnie have planned when the Heaven and Hell tour finally ends.
This is going to be a weekly series by them, so you will definitely want to check it out today!

Live at Radio City Music Hall Deluxe Edition Pre-Order |
Aug 28, 2007 |
We've been asked about this many times, and we're finally able to bring you pre-order information on the Radio City Music Hall Deluxe Edition. The pre-order starts at 9AM Pacific time on the 28th of August (this morning). Here is the link you will need. This is a limited run of 5,000 copies (similar to the Live at Hammersmith release earlier this year), so if you're interested, you should get in now with your order.
http://www.rhino.com/blacksabbath
From there, you can click on the Deluxe Edition Link to get to the ordering page for the product. Please see the technical note at the bottom of this story before clicking, however. There are 30 second streaming audio files of each of the tracks from the album at the Rhino pre-order page, too!
Rhino.com's exclusive limited edition box also includes: glossy band photos, a Heaven And Hell tour program, ticket replica, laminated pass and collector's postcards. It all comes housed in a sleek black display box emblazoned with official Heaven And Hell artwork.

A small technical problem exists with the site, though. The ordering page on the Rhino site does not appear to currently be working with the Mozilla Firefox or Opera web browsers. You likely will have to use Internet Explorer to get it work right correctly.
Also, we've had a few queries about the "pass" that is in the set. It is NOT a legitimate backstage pass like some have asked. Sorry. :)

Final
Artwork for Radio City Music Hall available |
July 12, 2007 |
News flash! The
final artwork for the Heaven & Hell: Live at Radio City
Music Hall 2 CD & DVD have been released. The
scheduled release date for these is August 28, 2007, and you
can read the press release for them below.

Fans lucky enough to score
tickets to Heaven And Hell's Radio City Music Hall
performance on March 30 -- the concert sold out in a matter
of minutes -- were fortunate witnesses to the glorious
return of Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and
Vinny Appice. Onstage in the U.S. for the first time in 15
years, the group let loose an onslaught of iconic metal
spotlighting Dio's memorable tenure with Black Sabbath.
LIVE FROM RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL captures the band bashing
its way through some of the Dio era's best including "Mob
Rules," "Die Young," "Neon Knights," "Children Of The Sea"
and an epic 15-minute-plus version of "Heaven And Hell." The
quartet also performed a pair of new songs-the hit single
"The Devil Cried" and "Shadow Of The Wind." Both songs
debuted earlier this year on Black Sabbath: The Dio Years
(Rhino/Warner Bros. Records), the first comprehensive
introduction to the Dio era's legacy.
Following this spring's successful U.S. tour, Heaven And
Hell is scheduled to spend the summer playing concerts and
festivals around the world. In early September, the group
will return to the U.S. for another round of shows. Look for
dates and a full lineup to be announced soon.
Together for a short but memorable time-a trio of studio
albums, a classic live album and a couple of tours-the
second coming of Black Sabbath began in 1979 when founding
members Iommi and Butler were joined by Dio. The former
singer of Elf (and later Rainbow and Dio) added his fiery,
demonic howl to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group's
unmistakable sound. The Dio-led lineup disbanded in 1983 and
reunited in 1992 to record Dehumanizer and tour before again
going on hiatus.

The slate of spring US Tour
Dates has just been announced, and we're glad to bring you the
information here! Below is the full press release, as well
as the list of dates. Check it out!
Ronnie James Dio, Tony
Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice Reunite For U.S. Tour
Spotlighting Black Sabbath’s Dio Years
The Newly Recorded Single “The Devil Cried” Takes Radio By Storm
Tickets For All Dates Go On Sale The Weekend Of March 9
LOS ANGELES — Ronnie
James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice will
reunite for the first time in 15 years as Heaven and Hell Live
to cast a dark spell over spring as the quartet tours the U.S.
Tickets will go on sale the weekend of March 9 for all 20 stops
of the American leg (except Houston, on sale March 17), which is
set to launch in Phoenix on April 22. There will also be a
special fan presale for all dates beginning Wednesday, March 7
at 12 Noon EST. The tour will follow in the wake of the band’s
highly anticipated Radio City Music Hall concert in New York
City on March 30, which sold out in a matter of minutes.
Last year, the hard-rocking quartet convened to record three new
songs for Rhino Records’ era-spanning collection, Black Sabbath:
The Dio Years, due out April 3 on Rhino/Warner Bros. Records.
One of the newly recorded tracks – “The Devil Cried” – is the
first single. Bristling with the trademark Sabbath sound, the
song is being well received by fans and critics alike.
The sessions for Black Sabbath: The Dio Years went so well that
the band agreed to satisfy longstanding demands for a reunion
tour. Set to launch in Canada on March 11, the Heaven And Hell
World Tour will spotlight Dio’s tenure with Sabbath and will
feature selections from all three of the group’s the studio
albums, Heaven And Hell (1980), Mob Rules (1981) and Dehumanizer
(1992), as well as the newly recorded tracks.
Multi-platinum recording artist Megadeth will join the tour and
preview never before heard material from the group’s new CD,
United Abominations, due out May 8 on Roadrunner Records. All
dates will also feature Roadrunner labelmates Machine Head who
are supporting their latest album, The Blackening, set for
release on March 27.

2007 U.S. Tour will include the following stops:

Here's a few new tidbits, though:
Tour rehearsals started
TODAY in Los Angeles. In other tour news, Heaven & Hell
are looking at touring the States sooner than the original late
summer plans (August) they had originally made. No dates
or other confirmation is available at this time, but we thought
you'd enjoy this short tidbit about the tour.
Here is the press release
for "Black Sabbath: The Dio Years" and the "Live at Hammersmith"
disc that will come out the following month.
Tony Iommi, Ronnie
James Dio and Geezer Butler Reunite to Record Three New
Songs for a Collection of Essential Recordings from
Sabbath’s Dio Years, Plus an Unreleased Live Album.
Together for a short but memorable time — a trio of studio
albums, a classic live album, and a couple of tours — the
second coming of Black Sabbath began in 1979 when founding
members Tony Iommi and Terry "Geezer" Butler were joined by
Ronnie James Dio. The former singer of Elf (and later
Rainbow and Dio) added his fiery, demonic howl to the Rock
and Roll Hall of Fame group's crushing mix of iconic riffs,
gloomy grooves and doom-soaked imagery.
In late 2006 Dio, Iommi and Butler, joined by drummer Vinny
Appice, reunited to record three new songs for Rhino
Records' era-spanning collection, "Black Sabbath: The Dio
Years". These recording sessions went so well that the
quartet — billed as Heaven & Hell — will launch a highly
anticipated world tour this spring. The group will play
eleven dates in Canada in March before taking the stage of
the famed Radio City Music Hall in New York City on March 30
to play their only U.S. date until the band launches a full
tour of the States later this year.
The first comprehensive introduction to the band's legacy,
"Black Sabbath: The Dio Years" features a dozen classic
studio recordings, plus one live track — "Children Of The
Sea" from 1982's "Live Evil". The collection also contains
the three brand-new tracks — "The Devil Cried", "Shadow Of
The Wind", and "Ear In The Wall". The disc will be available
on 3rd April 2007 at all physical retail outlets and at
www.rhino.com for a suggested list price of $18.98. The
album will also be available at all digital retail outlets
for a suggested retail price of $11.99.
Arranged chronologically, the compilation spotlights Dio's
time with Black Sabbath and draws heavily from the lineup's
1980 debut and 1981 follow-up, "Heaven and Hell" and "Mob
Rules" respectively. Recognized as back-to-back metal
classics, the albums feature such signature songs as the
title tracks, "Neon Knights", "Die Young", "Turn Up The
Night" and "Voodoo". "The Dio Years" also features "After
All (The Dead)", "TV Crimes" and "I" from the singer's brief
reunion with Sabbath for the "Dehumanizer" album and tour.
On May 1st 2007, Rhino Handmade will release "Black Sabbath:
Live At Hammersmith Odeon", which features Dio, Iommi,
Butler and Appice getting hot one December night in London
during Sabbath's 1981 tour for "Mob Rules". Previously
unreleased, the concert spotlights Sabbath as they storm
through 14 of the Dio-era's best including "Neon Knights",
"Heaven And Hell", "Children Of The Sea" and "Country Girl".
The band also performs several pre-Dio classics, including
"Paranoid", "Children Of The Grave" and a white-hot version
of "War Pigs". The album will be available from Rhino
Handmade as an individually numbered limited edition of
5,000 copies, available only at www.rhinohandmade.com for a
suggested retail price of $19.98.

Hope is not lost, though.
You'll want to keep checking back here, as the band will be
offering some sort of ticket giveaway for the upcoming tour.
No further specifics at this time, but you will want to keep
checking back for your chance to win free Heaven & Hell concert
tickets!

And finally, with all
this Heaven & Hell news coming out, we thought we'd get you
excited by playing a song by the lads which came out just about
15 years ago now - it's the music video for TV Crimes from Black
Sabbath's 1992 Dehumanizer album:

GZR
Videos |
Jan 22, 2007 |
Something we get asked about
from time to time are conceptual music videos for the GZR band.
To date there has been just one, from 1995's "Plastic
Planet" album. The song is Drive Boy Shooting.
The video for this has been uploaded to Youtube, and you can
view it here:
Someone also took the
music from Drive Boy shooting and set it to some footage from a
Clone Wars video, you can view that video on Youtube
here.
Additionally, there is a
clip up with Pedro Howse playing some of the guitar riffs from
the Ohmwork album - that video is shown below:

Geezer &
U2 |
Jan 18, 2007 |
|
There has been a lot of
speculation as to who the bass player is on the U2 video for
Window in the Skies, as you don't actually see their face. Well
its none other than Geezer, taken from an old Sabbath video. It
can be seen around the 2:14 mark.
If you haven't seen the
video before, it's been included below, hit play to view it:
